STUDIES AND PUBLICATIONS

After prosthetic innovations, on users' requests, ROADRUNNERFOOT from 1 year engage in studying and realizing braces.

BRACES

Graduation thesis of Ing. Matteo Zani. presentation

The work made by Roadrunnerfoot Engineering srl had the aim to enlarge the market towards braces' sector. The thesis working has followed the same iter of project management: market study, design, prototype realizing to obtain a product that will be manifactured by the company's industrial process.

Each step to create the brace, reporting ways, times, problems and solutions will be analyzed.

  1. Market study: research about existing braces and a global classification. We found different parameters: materials, location of the joint, features of braces depending of the part of the body needing it. In front of a lot of devices, we choose to study the more used and interesting ones.
  2. Scientific articles from 1999 (artcileson reviews, abstarcts and thesis at a global level), answers to gait analysis and quantity and quality valutations. From 2005 all literature has been studying devices made of composite materials, considering these the future for their capacity to store and release energy.
  3. Engage a user with a bottom limb deficit, to make gait analysis with and without brace at the Luigi Divieti, Politecnico di Milano. The aim was to analyze 4 different AFO ortheis working (different materials and shapes)
  4. study patented devices in Europe and US.
  5. Design a new device starting from gait analysis of others braces. We try to find a solution between advantages and limits of existing braces, to create a product with a better performance. The company know-how about laminating technique give us a great opportunity to create an innovative device.
  6. Prototype has been created (fig.1.) at Eligio Re Fraschini, global leader company for composite working method, a partner of Roadrunnerfoot Engineering srl


Finally we tested the product, through gait analysis and through other instruments creating ad hoc for testing it.


FLEXIBLE MATERIALS

After a long research, we created a innovative material to make braces, with great elastic properties that will eliminate rigid plastic braces.


WEELCHAIR

As to create walking foot we start from running foot, as for weelchair we start from sport devices. We are designing a new basket weelchair. Our interest is also for atheltic weelchairs and handbike, because we believe in sport.
