DANIELE BONACINI
Engineer, transtibial amputee and paralimpic athlete.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering at Politecnico di Milano in 2001, in April 2001 he started working at VE&D
(Vehicle Engineering and Design), a design company in automotive industry,
with orders from Fiat: initially employed in planning and management of the orders, than as Manager of Bremach orders.
From June 2002 to March 2005 he worked as a Project Manager at RIETER Automotive Fimit SpA, Truck Division(Desio).
The Company manufactures internal shells for Cars and Trucks and has the target to supply a whole cabin to the clients,
with all plastic components manufactured by partner manufacturers. As a Project Manager he followed the developemnt
of a project from starting feasibility, to design, to prototyping and to manufacturing in compliance with timing and
cost's target set by clients like CNH, MAN and SAME. In March 2005 he started a PhD at Politecnico di Milano,
in the Kaemart Group of Department of Mechanical Engineering to realize he's dream:
make research in prosthetic components to improve quality of life for amputees' people and to let technology be accessible
to users. The motivation is linked to the fact that, in 1993, he lost his right leg due to a car accident.
In 1997 he started to run with a specific prosthesis. He won several titles of Italian Champion in 100m, 200m
and long jump. His better results are: 4th place in 200m and long jump at European Championship 2003, the 8th place
in 100m and 200m at World Championship 2002 and the 6th place in ong jump at Athens Paralympic Games 2004.
